Travel Tips:

1.Climate

According to Peru geographical position (tropical zone in the south hemisphere), Peru should have a warm, humid climate with rains. However, because of the mountains range of the Andes, and the winds of the Pacific Ocean along with the flow of cold water coming from the south, Peru has a variety of climates. On the coast of Peru, there are no rains, but exists a dense haze and sprinkle between the months of May and November.

The temperature varies between 14*C (57.2 F) and 18*C (64.4 F). In the summer time (December- March), there is less moisture. The Sun shines through the region. In the Andes and the Amazon, there is a dry weather (May-October) where the days are sunny. However, from (December-March) they have rainy days. The Andes of Peru have a dry weather 9*C – 18* C (48.2 F – 64.4 F). The Amazon of Peru have a tropical weather 26*C – 40*C (78.8 F – 106 F).

2. Time

Our time difference is between 1 to 3 hours. All depends on what area of the USA and daylight savings time.

- Long Distance calls made from Peru to USA, must dial 00 first.
- Postal Service: It could take 7 to 10 days for a letter.
- Electricity: 220 Volts, 60HZ.

4. Tourist Visas

- Tourist Status < 3 months: valid US Passport during your visit, no tourist visa needed.

5. Currency: Nuevo Sol

- 1 US Dollaro = 2.90 Nuevos Soles
- Banks: Open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- The country's main cities have ATMs that accept different kinds of debit and credit cards.
- Credit Cards accepted in big cities and some provinces.
- It is recommendable to carry cash (US dollar or Nuevo Sol).

6. Health

- Peru generally maintains good health conditions. Hospitals and clinics provide adequate services, especially in Lima and the other main cities.
- A yellow fever vaccination is required for traveling to jungle cities, and it must be administered at least 10 days before your trip. If not, it will not be effective.
- To avoid altitude sickness or soroche, we suggest you to ascend gradually in order to become acclimatized, rest on the first day of your arrival, eat light foods, drink plenty of water and keep lemon candies at hand. If you have heart problems consult your doctor.

7. Do not forget to bring

- Passport.
- Wear comfortable tennis shoes or hiking shoes.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
- Bring a coat, a jacket or sweaters. You will need them at night and for the boat rides.
- Bring a coat for the rain if you are planning on coming from (December-April). However, you will be able to find raincoats at low prices in the small provinces. - Bring your bathing suit.
- Must bring sun block (45spf).
- Bring mosquito repellent.

8. Not taking

- Your colletion of jewelry.
- Photo film (prices more interesting)
- Identity card.
